Is Culture In The Classroom Dead Or Alive?
Rajendran Kannan
Everyday culture and language play an important role in shaping thoughts and ideas in our everyday life. In fact, language is culture. Language learning and culture are inseparable as culture facilitates both the learning and teaching of language. This workshop will help teachers and practitioners to consider effective culturally authentic tasks as teaching approaches in classroom language learning and teaching. Culture is a critical tool in designing culturally based materials which will assist teachers and learners in the classroom. The ideas obtained from this workshop will hopefully inspire many to use the multicultural diversity of our students for a rewarding learning and teaching experience.
